Privacy and terms
Last updated 23 October 2026
The app
choco.video has no accounts, no servers and no analytics. We never receive your videos, transcripts, clips or anything about how you use the app.
- Your video and audio never leave your Mac. Transcription, face tracking, captions and rendering all run on your computer.
- Clip picking sends transcript text only, and only where you choose. With Apple's on-device model nothing leaves your Mac. With a provider such as OpenCode Zen, the transcript text goes to that provider under its own privacy policy, using your own key. The key is stored in your Mac's Keychain.
- Downloads you start. If your Mac needs a speech model, it is downloaded from Hugging Face when you ask for it.
- Update check, off by default. From version 0.1.4 you can turn on an update check, which fetches one small file from GitHub.
The app is open source, so you can check all of this yourself: github.com/YashvanthSankar/choco.video.
